Ben Shelton was named Deputy Cabinet Secretary of the New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD) in March 2025, after serving in an acting capacity for the previous eight months. Before his appointment as Acting Deputy Secretary, he was the agency’s General Counsel. Before joining EMNRD, he was Director of Government Affairs for Conservation Voters New Mexico. Ben has a BA degree from Seattle University and a JD from Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon.
